How It Works

PDO Threads are a bio-degradable, polydioxanone (PDO) suture, used to achieve the technique of ‘Thread-Lifting’.

Polydioxanone is a crystalline, biodegradable, synthetic polymer, which was originally introduced as a wound closure material in surgery. The innovative method of using PDO for Thread-Lifting was later developed for cosmetic treatments.

PDO is often a preferred material due to its high tensile strength compared to other suture materials. In addition, PDO is associated with minimal complications and can be molded into various designs, in order to treat different areas of the face.

Treatment Areas:

  • Nasonabial folds
  • Marionette Lines
  • Jawline / Jowls
  • Neck
  • Fox Eye

Results of Thread Lifting

For Lifting Bio-Threads, a lifting effect should be evident immediately following the procedure. This effect will begin to settle and even improve overtime, as the Threads dissolve and collagen is produced.

Patients often experience the best results when they receive regular Bio-Threads Treatments, to stimulate ongoing collagen production. Our senior Nurse Cosmetic Injector, Lauren, will discuss a recommended Treatment Plan for you. All results will vary on a case-by-case basis and depend on a variety of factors.

Possible Side Effects

Some side effects can occur, such as: bruising, swelling, headache, pain, superficial displacement and skin dimpling. These side effects tend to naturally heal over time (typically resolving within 2 weeks) or can be addressed with a secondary treatment.

In rare cases, side effects such as infection, hematoma, muscle dysfunction, skin necrosis and unilateral paresthesia can occur. Our practitioner will discuss these with you and determine if a Thread-Lifting Procedure is right for you.

This device is prohibited to use on patients who have Diabetes with complications of Dermal necrosis.

Pre Treatment Care

  • Inform your Practitioner if you have a history of medication allergies, history of anaphylaxis, and any other medical problems (e.g. pregnancy, diabetes, immune deficiency disorders, cancer, HIV etc).
  • Inform your Practitioner of any medication that you are currently taking.
  • Avoid consuming Aspirin, Motrin, Advil, Ibuprofen, Vitamin E, Gingko Biloba, Fish Oil, Garlic pills, or other anti-inflammatory medications for 1-2 weeks prior, as they can increase the risk of bruising. Only stop taking these medications if approved by your primary Physician.
  • Limit consuming alcohol or smoking for at least a week prior to the procedure.

I had micro needling done with dermal clinician Megan. She is very personable, professional and passionate about her work. She gave me a thorough briefing of the procedure and answered all of my questions during the consult. The treatment went very smoothly and I knew I was in safe hands. Looking forward to the results!

Mal was simply the most amazing and best consultation I've ever had here! She takes great care, eases you in the process as it is a bit scary, and very professional. The treatment has worked really well for me so far. I have an Indian dusky skin tone and had many queries and doubts going in. However, all my doubts were clearly answered and I would highly recommend the clinic to anyone looking for laser treatments! The place is very clean, organised, has great ambience and offers great services!

VicLaser in Collins St. is a relaxing and clean facility. Ms. Mal looks after me, very friendly, accommodating and knowledgeable of what she does since the day I started my sessions, and will always make sure you feel comfortable before, during and after the service. Had a very nice experience and still going. Kudos to this branch especially to Ms. Mal 👏🏻☺️
