Microdermabrasion

Microdermabrasion

Facial skin resurfacing has been around for centuries, but Microdermabrasion as we know it today, was developed in Italy in the mid 1980's.

Many of us wish for the skin of younger years and it is now possible with Medical Microdermabrasion.

Age, stress, the sun and other environmental factors all have dramatic effect on our skin. You can get back your healthy natural glow, clarify your skin and reduce your wrinkles. Microdermabrasion can accomplish what no other non surgical procedure can do in combating the signs of aging and sun damaged skin.

Q & A

What is Microdermabrasion?
Microdermabrasion is a quick, non-invasive, painless treatment used to clean, refine and smooth the skin surface while stimulating healthy reactions in the deeper layers of the skin using micro massage. There is no downtime, the treatment can be done during a lunch break.

What conditions can be treated?
Microdermabrasion is a rejuvenating treatment used for conditions such as congested skin, acne scarring, enlarged pores, sun damaged skin, fine lines, pigmentation and general skin rejuvenation.

How will I look after treatment ?
It is normal for the skin to be pink after the treatment, lasting up to a few hours. Mild exfoliation is common in the first few days of the early treatments, but is uncommon once the skin is in better condition. Where acne pustuled and cysts have been treated the area may be red and a small scab may form, lasting for several days. Do not pick any scabs!

How many treatments will I need?
For best results it is necessary to have multiple treatments over a period of time. For general rejuvenation, approximately six treatments are required. Severe cases of acne or acne scarring may require more. Treatments are usually done every 2-3 weeks and take about 30-40 minutes.

Pre & Post Care

It is important to note that your skin may feel tight, as if exposed to the sun or wind for the first 2 days preceding treatment. Some moderate skin peeling may occur.

Deeper treatment for shallow scars or moderate to heavy sun damaged skin may appear slightly red, swollen or grazed for a few hours. For some patients who have sensitive skin this may remain for a few days.

Post-Treatment Care

Fact Sheets

Medical Microdermabrasion is a skin rejuvenating procedure designed to help repair sun, aged and acne affected skin. The procedure uses fine aluminum oxide crystals of the highest purity, or a crystal encrusted wand, in conjunction with suction, to remove the dead outer skin layers, resulting in a smoother, fresher and younger looking face.

Medical Microdermabrasion is non-invasive and non-wounding treatment also stimulates circulation and blood flow, thus encouraging collagen and elastin production and entails virtually no discomfort, down time or recovery. The treatment is not painful, has no healing time and there is almost no risk of infection.

Simplicity makes Microdermabrasion both safe and economical. It can be used as an alternative or in conjunction with Photo Rejuvenation and chemical peels.
