Body Exfoliation
Our skin naturally exfoliates the dry dead surface cells everyday. As we age and in some skin conditions such as acne, the skin’s natural exfoliation process is impaired which results in a build up of dry, dead skin cells on the surface. This build up causes folliculitis, commedones, papules, pustules and hardened dry patches. The skin will appear dull and flaky.
A body exfoliation will speed up this natural process by using mineral salts and moisturizers to slough off the old cells to reveal a fresh, rejuvenated and more even toned complexion.
Q & A
How is the Exfoliation treatment performed? Your therapist will massage the exfoliating salts or cream into the skin using light effleurage movements. Areas of particularly dry skin such as elbows and knees may require extra attention to soften the skin. The body exfoliation may then be followed by a body mask for an advanced skin treatment or simply rinsed off and followed by a moisturizing massage.
What are the benefit? Body exfoliation is perfect prior to spray tanning as having smooth skin ensures your tan will develop evenly and looking most natural. Body exfoliation may minimize the occurrence of ingrown hairs associated with waxing. A body exfoliation will also boost toxin elimination and cellulite reduction by stimulating the circulatory system.
Is a Body Exfoliation suitable for sensitive skin? A cream exfoliation is better suited to sensitive skin in place of mineral salts. Mineral salts are more abrasive and are best suited to sun damaged, dry and acneic skin.
